THE BACKGROUND
Renaissance wanted to produce an interactive induction programme to replace its PowerPoint-based material. With a rapidly expanding business and offices around the world, HR needed a consistent, globally relevant programme. Renaissance had also recently installed its Learning Management System (LMS), which allowed remote, online training for employees.
THE BRIEF
We were asked to develop a business-wide SCORM-compliant programme that would interact with Renaissance’s LMS. And it had to be easy to update and monitor remotely, as well as fully accessible and user-friendly. It was also seen as an opportunity to reinforce and spread Renaissance’s core values to new staff.
THE RESULT This large-scale project involved three distinct phases:
> COPYWRITTING - Copy from the existing programme had become out of date, and increasingly out
of touch with the bank’s character and values. So our first step was to completely rewrite all content with a more enthusiastic and dynamic tone. The induction programme is often an employee’s first real experience of an organisation’s ‘personality’, so getting this right was really important.
> DESIGN - This also had to reflect the bank’s vision and values, specifically ‘Entrepreneurship, Excellence and One Firm’, so POP developed a contemporary and forward-looking interpretation of Renaissance as a city, with landmark buildings representing its key departments and businesses.
The cityscape design incorporated a navigation interface, so users could interact and explore the ‘city’
in a unique way, as shown below.
> PROGRAMMING - We developed the induction programme using Flash, HTML and Javascript, to integrate effectively with Renaissance’s LMS. Since its introduction, the induction programme has been a major success for Renaissance, and a landmark example of POP Communications’ ability and expertise. |
